The european commission made a public consultation for the creation of a european area of cloud computing

The european commission published on 21 march, a proposal for the creation of a european area of confidence in the cloud computing and opened a forum for discussion about its contents.

In september 2012 the european commission published the european strategy of Cloud Computing, which posed a number of measures to facilitate the deployment of european industry of cloud, far behind that of the american industry, and to encourage its use among the public sector in europe. The Strategy established in the creation of a Group of advisors on cloud computing, consisting of representatives from the public and private sector, to the commission in its implementation. The advisers group is chaired by the President of Estonia, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, and with the participation of the ministry of finance and Public Administrations, through the directorate of Administrative Modernization, procedures and momentum of E-government.

 

According to the european commission, the market of the cloud could increase the european gdp in 940,000 M €and contribute to the generation of 3.8 million jobs across europe. In the words of the Vice-president of the european commission to the Digital Agenda, Neelie Kroes, europe must become a reference in the supply of safe cloud, in order to contribute to the economy.

 

On 21 march, the commission publishes its vision of the european area of confidence in the cloud computing ( https :// ec.europa.eu/digital-agenda/en/news/trusted-cloud-europe (Opens in new window) ), and open a discussion forum on its contents. To that end, disseminates a survey which invited to collaborate to users and providers of cloud computing ( http://ec.europa.eu/digital-agenda/news/trusted-cloud-europe-survey (Opens in new window) ).

The survey responses will be taken into account in future legislative proposals of the european commission in the field of cloud computing. In addition, the Horizon 2020 will provide 22 M €for the development of services of cloud computing for fostering innovation in public sector, through its programme of work by 2015
