In the new European Commission report The state-of-play report on dixital public administration and interoperability 2021, Spain casetas out for another year in the performance of interoperability, ranking in most key indicators above the European average.
Within the evaluation of effectiveness and efficiency, the report cites as an example of good practices the creation of the Data Intermediation Platform (PID), which has experienced an important growth in the number and types of data enquiry and verification services that can be automatically accessed online by public authorities. Among the national initiatives to improve interoperability governance, the report highlights the Spanish one, where the Interconnection Registry System (SIR) has seen a great improvement in the last year with a total of nearly 11 million exchanges between public administrations.
In the implementation of the conceptual model of the European Interoperability Framework, the report highlights two Spanish cases: the Administrative Information System (SIA), which provides a single catalogue of information on administrative procedures and services for citizens; and the use of external sources and services, such as cloud services to provide access to base registries, digital identification, digital signing and digital payment.
