Born AEMET Open Data, the download center of climate and weather information

In conformity with the law on reuse information in the public sector, the AEMET has launched the realtime web AEMET Open Data, for the dissemination and reuse of its meteorological and climatological data

At present, the data produced and stored by the AEMET (Opens in new window) an important resource to boost the knowledge economy and the information society. Consequently, it has been put in place download AEMET Open Data (Opens in new window) .  

Thus, the opening of the data stored by AEMET facilitates the movement of information towards the main actors of the community reutilizadora (companies, administrations and citizenship), and fosters economic growth, social commitment and transparency.

The system of the Meteorological Agency provides open access to data published according to the National Scheme of Interoperability in the area of E-government. The data made available to be provided through two ways: on the one hand, access to the general public who, through friendly interfaces and directed step by step, have the opportunity to download the data of the entity. And on the other, access to developers, which, through an API REST, download the data set out in annex II resolution of 30 december 2015 of AEMET (Opens in new window) .

Among the available data for reuse AEMET Open Data facilitates the download of information from a large number of sensors and smart devices located throughout the national territory. Thanks to the new system of the agency, it is possible to access the data in real time and implement, in addition, massive data processing (big data) to detect hidden patterns of behaviour.

Thus, the AEMET reinforces its commitment to the opening of public data to meet the demands of citizens, private or public entities and companies. In this context, the state agency organizes on 13 december, in its corporate headquarters, a day to address different aspects relating to the opening and reuse of data.
