The UNPSA promotes and reward innovation and excellence in public services in support of the realization of sustainable development goals (ODS) and the principle of non-leave anyone behind, which form the nucleus of the Agenda 2030 for sustainable development.
In this edition, the award illustrates that sustainable development and effective governance was based on a public service. It is a prestigious international recognition of excellence in public service and reward the achievements and contributions of the institutions of public service that lead to a public administration more effective and responsive in countries around the world.
Nominations for the UNPSA 2019 are invited into five categories:
- Offering inclusive and equitable services not to leave anyone behind
- To ensure integrated approaches to public sector institutions
- Developing effective public institutions and responsible
- Promoting digital transformation in public sector institutions
- Promoting gender-sensitive public to achieve the ODS
In 2019, the department of economic and social affairs of the united Nations will work with ONU-Mujeres in the organization of the prizes, emphasizing the important role of public services sensitive to gender in the achievement of the ODS.
The winning initiatives will be recognized in the Day of the public service of the united nations, whose aim is to "celebrate the value and virtue of the public service to the community" in june 2019.

The nomination period to UNPSA 2019 expires on 30 november, 2018. The guidelines for the submission and the online application form is available in the six official languages of the united Nations. However, we encourage all organizations appointing authorities to provide translations of their candidatures in one of the work of the secretariat of the united Nations, which are english and french.
