The report of Gender indicators of the Digital society (issue of march 2021) explains how to 2020 has been the año where digitalización has accelerated at a faster pace in the last decade. In connection with electronic administration, public administrations are taking digital technologies to make the processes, services and information more accessible and less expensive.
The online interactions of persons with public administrations vary from the simple collection of information on web sites of the public authorities, where procedures were completed forms, and the submission of this via the Internet.
The tables and graphs of the report show the level of implementing these activities by women, and serves to reflect the gaps that exist on the grounds of gender, age and level of education.
The proportion of people using the Internet to interact with public authorities in spain has increased from 43 per cent in 2015 to 63 per cent in 2020. In general terms, spain is positioned above the average UE27 in the interaction of people with public administrations. However, differences still persist in the analysis of these activities from a gender perspective.
Men use the Internet, to interact with public administrations that women, both in spain and in the average for the countries of the UE27, being the distance of 4 percentage points in Spain and one at UE27. This behavior change with age, the young spanish and european women aged 16 to 24 interact more with the public administration through the Internet than men, being the distance of 7 percentage points. However, in older groups this activity is carried out by more men than women.
