The European Commission launches a public consultation on the directive of cybersecurity NIS

The Committee initiates the procedure for the revision of the directive on secure networks and information systems (NIS), starting with a public consultation, whose aim is to collect views on its implementation and impact of possible changes.

Since its adoption, the Directive NIS (Opens in new window) has ensured that the member states are better prepared to cyberincidents and has increased its cooperation through the NIS cooperation group (Opens in new window) . This requires companies that provide essential services in vital sectors ( energy, transport, banking, financial market infrastructure, health, supply and distribution of water and digital infrastructure), as well as digital service providers key (as search engines or services in the cloud computing or online) to protect their systems of information technology and inform national authorities on incidents of cybersecurity important.
