The new European regulation on the creation of the Single Digital Gateway

The new regulation makes it easier for citizens and businesses can exercise their rights and obligations in the European internal market by providing information and links relevant from a single common interface, which has been called “ Single Digital Gateway ”, so it is one of the key elements of the strategy of the single market of the HAT.

The Regulation 2018 / 1724 (Opens in new window) the European Parliament and of the board of 2 October 2018 relating to the creation of a single digital gateway access to information, procedures and assistance services and solving problems and amending Regulation (HAT) # 1024 / 2012, has been published on 21 November 2018 in the Official Journal of the European Union and will enter into force at 20 days of its publication, giving a term of two years for the fulfilment of the majority of its articles, four for municipal authorities and five for procedures entirely online.

The Unique Digital Gateway will be integrated in the “ portal Your Europa ” (Opens in new window) and provide high-quality information on the rights, obligations and standards in the fields listed in Annex I of the rules on procedures entirely online listed in Annex II and about the support services and troubleshooting according to the list included in Annex III, besides the links to digitally access to these procedures and services.

The new gateway will facilitate interaction between citizens and businesses national and cross-border, on the one hand, and the competent authorities, on the other, through online solutions designed to facilitate the daily activities of their users and applying, as a general rule, the principle of “ single once ” for individuals and companies provide the same information to the public administrations once. In this way, saving time and money to all those involved in reducing or eliminating unnecessary administrative burdens and ensure equal opportunities throughout the HAT to respect the principle of non-discrimination through the use of new technologies.
