Published new guide for adaptation to WCAG 2.1 since WCAG 2.0 and updated faq on new WCAG 2.1

On 20 september 2018, following its publication in the official gazette, entered into force Royal Decree 1112/2018, of 7 september on accessibility of websites and applications for mobile devices in the public sector (Opens in new window) , which reflected the spanish legal system Directive (EU) 2016/21022 (Opens in new window) .

In the royal decree establishes accessibility requirements as to meet the set forth in the harmonised one published by the european commission on 21 december 2018 through Implementation decision (EU) 2018/2048, on the harmonized rule applicable to the websites and applications for mobile devices (Opens in new window) . This standard harmonized system is based on the latest version of the rule 301 549 V2.1.2 (2018-08) (Opens in new window) “ requirements of accessibility of ICT products and services ” which in turn, a technical level, ultimately converges with the new WCAG 2.1 (Opens in new window) of the W3C (patterns of Web accessibility initiative).

Until the publication of the new royal decree public administrations must fulfil the requirements of A level and AA level UNE 139803:2012 which are equivalent to WCAG 2.0.

The objective of the new guide for adaptation to WCAG 2.1 since WCAG 2.0 it is providing, at those responsible for web sites that are already in line with regard to the WCAG 2.0, a useful summary guide you to the development or adaptation of your sites or web applications to the new WCAG 2.1.

Therefore, in this guide will describe the developments at the most important technical introduced by the WCAG 2.1 for the level of compliance AA demanded by spanish legislation.

Together with the publication of this new guide, it has also introduced a comprehensive set of frequently asked questions regarding new WCAG 2.1 aimed at responding to the doubts that may arise with the emergence of this new version. As they identify new issues that are of interest will be added to this same section.
