The new edition of the challenge Brings

10 april 2019

Already in place a new edition of the challenge Aporta . As in the previous edition was seeking new ideas and prototypes based on open data, which will help to improve the efficiency of a particular sector. In this case, it has chosen the agri-food sector, forestry, and in rural areas.

Currently, this sector is facing a number of challenges that affect us all and, ultimately, the future of humanity, such as climate change, food security, population growth or the depopulation of rural areas. These global problems, we must add the specific challenges of Spain. Depopulation, ageing, desertification, digital divide, emasculation, deficit and dispersion of services … are some of the concepts that usually come to mind when we believe in rural areas in our country.

To these challenges require a change of paradigm.

How can help open data to improve this situation?

The digital processing can help to change the bases of operation of the food industry develop rural areas, in different ways; for example through the so-called intelligent agriculture and precision that combines technologies such as robotics and artificial intelligence to the management of public and private data, to maximize the yield of crops, increasing productivity and improve sustainability. In this context, open data have a vital role .

What is the challenge Brings 2019?
